Cannot click to edit numeric text fields

Community Beginner ,

I cannot activate any numeric fields by clicking on them (Position, Rotate, Opacity, Scale, etc.), to type in numbers — only scrubbing changes the numbers. This issue happens in all projects, in new comps, and even in a fresh user account on macOS.

Prefs reset, workspace reset, Safe Mode (no plugins), and rolling back AE don’t fix the problem. Both trackpad and external mouse are affected.

System Info:

macOS: Sonoma 14.6.1

After Effects: 25.6 (tested with older 25.2 also)

Keyboard Input: English (“A” in menu bar)

Steps to Reproduce:

Open AE, create or open a comp.

Try clicking a numeric field (e.g. Position, Scale, Rotation, etc.) for any object.

The field does not activate for typing.

Try resetting prefs / workspace / switching users — issue persists.

Impact:

Makes precise numeric input impossible; critical for motion design work.

Request:

Please investigate this as a potential bug in AE 25.6’s UI interaction with macOS Sonoma 14.6.1 — it needs a fix in a future update.

I found a temporary solution!

1. Ensure all Adobe applications are closed

2. Disable Wi-Fi completely

3. Launch AE (or any affected Adobe application)

Once you do this it should work again, and the Wi-Fi should be safe to turn back on.

OP here, just to add on, I've just realised it's not only numeric fields, but all text fields. i.e. I can't rename comp names or layer names.
