It turns out this bug is already filed and should be fixed in the upcoming release. I was able to reproduce it with the steps on the existing bug report. I've linked this report to that bug, so this thread will get notified when the fix is released.

Hello,
I have upgraded to Lightroom Classic 15 today and most of the times switching to full screen mode ("F" key when in Develop mode) shows a blurred low-resolution version of the image.
It does not seem to happen when in Library mode, in fact, as a workaround, I switch to Library, move to full screen, then back to Develop and get the high-res version of the image.

Please provide your system information ... go to Help->System Info in Lightroom Classic and report the information shown there. Also please make sure you have the latest driver for your GPU (and if it is an Nvidia GPU, make sure you have the Studio driver and not the Game Ready driver).

Hey, @wonderful_Rose8816. Welcome to the Lightroom Classic Community. I observe the behavior for a few instances until the 1:1 preview, or a higher-resolution preview, is rendered.
Once you zoom into an image in the Library Module, go back to the Develop Module and select Full Screen. You should then see a consistent full-screen preview.
To avoid toggling between modules, create a new collection with a few images. Then, select all images in the Library Module, navigate to Library (top menu), and select Previews > Build 1:1 previews before you head to the Develop module.
Let me know how it goes.
Thanks!
Sameer K (Type '@' and type my name to mention me when you reply)
thanks for suggesting another workaround, but unfortunately it did not work.
I build the 1:1 previews and while going Full Screen from the Library works fine, it is still showing the low-res version of the photo when doing it in Develop Mode.
From what I can tell it is a bug of Lightroom Classic 15: I filed a report from within the application but I got no ticket notification.

I'm having this same issue on Mac! Most of the time the previews are incredibly low res, but every once in a while it will preview correctly. My images are high res, you can zoom in in the normal view perfectly fine, but hitting "F" makes the image very low res.
I'm using Lightroom Classic v15.0.1, my system info is attached.

Your screenshot shows the photo has a smart preview. I think you may have enabled the option Preferences > Performance > Use Smart Previews Instead Of Originals For Image Editing.
When I enable that option and edit an image having a smart preview, then in LR 14.5.1, Develop's Full Screen Preview is sharp. But in LR 15.0.1, it's fuzzy, even after zooming in and back. I think it's a bug.
A clumsy workaround: Go to Library, then Full Screen Preview (F), then go to Develop, and now Develop's Full Screen Preview is sharp.

In LR 15.0.1, Develop Full Screen Previews are initially fuzzy when the photo has a smart preview and the option of using smart previews is set. This is a change in behavior from 14.5.1.
To reproduce with LR 14.5.1 and 15.0.1 / Mac OS 15.7.1:

@Rikk Flohr: Photography, here are screen recordings of the misbehavior, steps 2 and 7 - 11 (I didn't bother with testing LR 14.5.1 this time). One recording is from a virgin LR 15.0.1 / virgin Mac OS 26.1, and the other is from a not-so-virgin LR 15.0.1 / Windows 11. So that's four installations showing the symptoms: LR 15.0.1 / Mac OS 15.6 (the original poster's), LR 15.0.1 / Mac OS 15.7.1, LR 15.0.1 / Mac OS 26.1, LR 15.0.1 / Windows 11.
Did you remember to set Preferences > Performance > Use Smart Previews Instead Of Originals For Image Editing?
Here are frame grabs of the first and second Develop Full Screen Preview from steps 9 and 11, on Mac:
And here are the corresponding frame grabs from Windows 11:

It seems there are an issue or incompatibility with your graphic device or the driver.
Is your system up-to-date? Do you have installed all recent updates and patches for the operating system and the device drivers, especially the graphic driver. If you have a NVidia graphic card installed, make sure that you are using the recent Studio version of the driver, not the Game Ready version.
Please provide a copy of your 'System Info'. This can be get from the LrC Help > System Info menu item. There's a copy button in the System Info dialog. Press this button and paste the info into your next forum post.

Hello,
the "Use Smart Previews Instead Of Originals For Image Editing" setting had no effect with my gear. No matter if it is selected or not, I still get the pixelated view in Full Screen mode. Btw, another workaround to get a sharp preview is to switch to another image while in Full Screen mode using the arrow keys and then switch back to the original image.

Hi,
my system is up-to-date and I tried what you suggest early on at the beginning of this thread. Switching to the Studio version of my Nvidia driver did not change the behavior.

A (RAW) color picture (photo) is converted to B&W with "B&W feature button in Development module of Lightroom CC.
Then, after typing key "F" (for full screen rendering) picture is displayed in a steady pixelized fashion. This is not a transient behavior as it stays as-is after a while, not rendering with correct resolution.
This behavior has been noticed only with B&W converted pictures and only in Lightroom CC (meaning, has not been verified with other versions of Lr).

Hi, thanks for reaching out!
Just to test, try disabling the option to Use Graphics Processor from Lightroom Classic by going to Preferences, then Performance. Once done, relaunch Lightroom Classic to check.
If it helps, try reinstalling the latest GPU drivers from NVIDIA's website. Also, install the latest Studio Drivers from NVIDIA instead of the Game ready drivers.

Hi, thank you for your answer.
1) Disabling Graphic Nvidia Graphic GPU in settings (followed by a system restart) seems to fix the issue but after zooming-in then out, then in (for example - but any action seems to progressively fix the issue).
2) I have updated Nvidia GPU drivers to the very last version of the Studio stream to 591.44, Dec. 4th, 2025 and reboot : no improvement, same behavior in full screen rendering. 3) I have also realized I ma not the only one to experience this issue by reading posts in this thread (sorry for duplicate)
4) Disabling low quality Intel UHD GPu to be sure to run only with Nvidia didn't brought any improvement

As @Rikk Flohr: Photography has already stated, this is a known bug. It has nothing to do with B&W or Smart Previews or the GPU Driver or the OS.
It is reproducible if you launch LrC 15.0.1 in the Develop module, i.e. LrC was in the Develop module when last quit. Press the F key to go into Full Screen Preview and the image is blurred; clik to zoom to 100% and it it very noticable; while in Full Screen Preview, use an Arrow key to navigate to another photo in the Film Strip, then back to the original photo and it will be sharp, but only until the next time Full Screen Preview is activated from Develop.

Some progress here.
I am working on laptop with two graphic cards(Intel UHD and Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 laptop)
I have opted in a dynamic management of graphic card. I.e. graphic card is chosen depending on the app in use. I noticed dynamic change is blocked by MicrosoftSecurityapp.exe (as reported in Nvidia control panel) preventing using high performance card. Two workarounds that work for me (one or the other, not at the same time)
1) disable "antivus and malware realtime protection" in security setings
2) force Nvidia has the only graphic card.
Full screen rendering is faster and seamless not pixelated whatever is the way to get it
