Batch File Rename Problem

The batch file rename Date and Time variable is not picking up the correct capture date and time.  The capture time is correct in Lightroom, so I am not sure why the variables are not working.  I have uploaded an example of the problem.  The custom template I am using is:

Date ( YYYYMMDD)-Hour Minute-TJM-Camera-File Number Suffix

FYI - the TJM in the name is my initials.

Lightroom 9.0

macOS 26.1

Hi @TJM_JHWY,

Thanks for reporting this — I’d like to dig a bit deeper to understand why the Date/Time variables aren’t matching the capture info shown in Lightroom. Could you please share a few details to help us with our investigation?

  • Whether these files were originally shot on this camera or imported from another device/app.

  • Does this happen with all images or only a specific set?

This info will help us narrow down issue and help you accordingly.

Thanks,

Srishti

When using the new batch rename feature in Lightroom CC V9 (Windows) the date and time used are in UTC+00:00 instead of the actual time indicated in the info field of the picture (which corresponds to the time zone that it was taken in).

I would expect the date/time used in rename to reflect the one in the information fields from the picture. And if people really want UTC+00:00, then a specific variable should be added to the rename feature.

Anyway, thanks a lot for adding this long awaited feature to Lightroom CC!!!

Thanks, I agree that is the problem.   Not sure why its that way as it is inconsistent with Lightroom Classic and Bridge.  If one wants their photos times in UTC, they can set their camera time to UTC.  Hopefully a fix in 9.1.
