P: macOS 15.5 Lightroom 8.3.1 & later from MacApp Store is not allowed to control photoshop issue

I hate Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop!!!!!!!!!!! So  sick of these bugs and random  problems! The only reason I have not quit using is because I am so busy, I have not had the time to find an alternative and I am sure that is the case for MANY!!! New problem came up just an hour ago after editing a job for 18+ hours. I wanted to edit a photo from lightroom in photoshop. I selected file > Edit in Photoshop. Get a prompt " lightroom is not allowed to control photoshop. Make sure this is allowed in system prefferences > Security & Privacy > Automation." This does not exist in lightroom or photoshop system preferences!!! What  is your deal, Adobe???

Hi all! Thanks to @Penny5FE7 and @Kaspian94, we've recreated this with Lightroom from the Mac App Store and let the team know about it. 

 

For now, please complete syncing and log in to Lightroom Web (https://adobe.ly/4eDBO1a) to make sure all your data is backed up to the cloud and uninstall Lightroom from the macOS App Store and reinstall Lightroom from the Creative Cloud desktop app: https://adobe.ly/4eA4J6o

Hey, @Danial35163744ja7u. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. It is clear you're really upset, and I am sorry for the trouble. 

 

The error appears due to insufficient permissions on the macOS. The System preferences in the error dialog are the macOS System Preferences and not Lightroom, or Photoshop Settings. 

You can click on the Apple Icon > System Settings > scroll down the list on the left > Privacy & Security & you'll find Automation. 


While you're in there, you can allow Full Disc Access permissions to Lightroom & Photoshop, which should help prevent any other permission issues.

I've tried this and it doesn't say lightroom or photoshop have requested permission for automation. List of apps is empty.........

Thanks for sharing the update, @Matea_Jure. i?3033. Could you include screenshots from the macOS settings and automation tab? 


If Lightroom and Photoshop aren't listed in the Full Disk Access list, you can manually add them by clicking the (+) Button at the bottom of the list.

Bonjour,

 

je suis sous MAC et depuis quelques jours je cherche en vain à éditer une photo depuis lightroom puis je fais clique droit "Modifier dans photoshop en calque ou Objet dynamique"

 

--> message d'erreur suivant:

"lightroom n'est pas autorisé à contrôler photoshop. assurez vous que cela est autorisé dans préférences système"

 

En cherchant j'ai vu que d'autres personnes avaient eu le problème mais impossible de trouver la réponse au problème.

 

J'ai désinstallé Lightroom, photoshop --> le problème revient systématiquement

 

Bref je suis dans le pétrin

Hello,
I have the same problem and it's so frustrating right now. I am not able to open photo in Photoshop directly from Lightroom. I've granted full access to disk for Photoshop and Lightroom and still I don't have any program in 'Automation' to grant access. I can't add anything manually... What can I do more?

 

My system and program specs:

Lightroom version: 8.3.1 MAS arm64 [ 20250505-2344-4fb7147 ] (May 5 2025)
Adobe Photoshop version: 26.8.0 20250611.r.16 96beaa5 arm64

OS version: macOS 15.5 (24F74)

This extremely annoying. Do I have to FTP a psd up and then down to use it or what? Adobe! You're charging what for this untested crap? You have developer access to changes Apple have planned so you can stay ahead of this. Use it.

After updating to macOS Sequoia 15.5, Lightroom (Cloud) cannot send files to Photoshop. macOS doesn't show the Automation prompt, and permissions can't be manually added. I've tried resetting permissions with tccutil, reinstalling apps, and checking all Privacy settings. No prompt appears, and no 'Automation' options show up for Lightroom.

Sorry for the delayed response! I hope the issue has been resolved by now, but if not, here are a few steps that might help:

 

It looks like Lightroom is not allowed to control Photoshop. You’ll need to update your system settings:

  • Go to: System Settings > Privacy & Security > Automation
    Look for Lightroom and Photoshop in the list.
    Ensure both apps are checked and have permission to control each other.
  • If you don’t see them listed under Automation:
    Go to: System Settings > Privacy & Security > and allow Full Disk Access to both Lightroom and Photoshop.

Also having this issue. Ive tried unintstalling and reinstalling both lightroom and photoshop. I still cant get it to come up in the automation section so I can give it access. Running lightroom CC and photoshop 2025 on M1 Mac Book Pro sequoia 15.5.

Help please. This has been an issue plaguing my work flow for at least 4-5 weeks now.

Malheureusement le problème n'est toujours pas résolu.

 

Je vais bien dans "confidentialité et sécurité" privacy & securité puis Automatisation mais la fenetre est vide.

 

Du coup j'ai bien fait la seconde étape que vous proposez mais le problème est toujours présent, impossible de passer de LR à LRC ou de LR à Photoshop ou de LRC à photoshop

 

et le champs Automatisation est toujours vide.

 

J'ai désinstaller tous les outils Adobe et réinstaller, toujours pareil

 

J'en ai marre 😞

Well...I haven't seen a response here....but I found a fix and really what was at the core my issue and may be for others. I was using a the LR CC App that I downloaded from the App Store on my Mac. I simply drug that app to the Trash, emptied the Trash, then when to Adobe directly, installed the  the LR Mac app from them and problem solved.

If you do not see the update in your Creative Cloud Application, you can refresh it by pressing  [Ctrl/Cmd]+[Alt/Opt]+[ R ].

Note: It may take up to 24 hours for your update to be available in your Creative Cloud app.

Malheureusement j'ai mis la mise a jour de Lightroom, Lightroom cc et photoshop et je n'arrive toujours pas à passer de Lightroom à Photoshop 

 

Par contre je n'ai plus le message d'erreur.

 

Mais ça ne marche pas.
