BUG: Playback in timeline wont stop when moving at double speed or more (v22)

in the newest update (v22) of premiere pro, when you shuttle right in the sequence at double speed, (or more) the playback won't stop, even when shuttle stop is pressed. Adobe premiere acts normally otherwise, (you can save and quit) but it will still keep playing at that speed. Even closing the sequence doesn't make it stop. You have to close out of the app and then re open the project.

Hi All,
Sorry for this issue. If possible, please share project/media files(& screen recording) that reproduce this issue consistently at your end. Not all users are facing this issue, and so far we haven't seen any solid repro of this bug internally, so a confirmed repro case will help us expedite fixing this problem. Meanwhile, we will continue to look at it.

Happy to help,
Mayjain

Same here. In addition advancing 1 frame sometimes doesn't work as well.

This bug is killing my workflow. It's such a habit for me to use a sped up playback speed when working on my timelines and now whenever I do, it continues to play no matter what I do and I have to close the program every time.

It's unbelievable that this is still an issue with SO many people complaining about it. Just checked Beta 22.4 and it has same problem

This is probably the single most common and infuriating, disempowering bug I've seen in Premiere which has somehow sustained countless versions of the software now. How can it be so difficult to simply STOP playing the timeline?! Like "do nothing" is really hard?

Sitting here wondering if I have to wait until it reaches the end of the timeline and will stop... Or do I hit Command-Option-Escape, again!
(Apparently my Mac made the decision for me - just popped up a warning that "Google has run out of memory..." and showing how much each app running is taking. Besides the Finder, is just Mail, Google and Premiere, and Premiere taking up 95% of my memory!?

This is still a bug. Why does it take so long to fix this? Is there a workaround? I tried with using lite proxies but it didn't help.

Yup, I've been having this issue through several updates now. I'm typing this as I wait for my video to stop. This bug has wasted countless hours of time for me, on more than one project.

This is majorly slowing down my workflow. How can a basic editing feature suddenly stop working? I could care less about the media export redesign. flying through my timeline is a MUST. Fix this Adobe!!

Wow, it has /substantially/ improved in 22.4 Build 57 for me. I wouldn't say fully fixed, it has happened once or twice in the last hour of working for me, but it's better than it happening every single time.

And if it does happen, I'm able to successfully pause sooner rather than the playback going for 20 more seconds.

Not only is it not corrected, it's even worse now. It's only playing back audio for me, the video feed is jumpy or frozen.

I've just realised why it was ok for me last night, I was on my M1 macbook. Everything just plays better on M1. So much so that I am awaiting delivery of a mac studio despite being a lifelong PC user. Premiere has forced me to make that jump at great expense and a total redesign of the way my business works.

Adobe.. fix your software!
