P: Fuji HIF files occasionally are unreadable

Hello all,

The following problem with my combination "X-H2 + Lightroom Classic + Mac / iPad (software, Mac and camera on the latest SW/FW version)":

actually I thought LR did not support the HEIF format, so took a few test shots, the files are recognised. Great. I think HEIF is the future-proof format (10-bit).

However, every now and then files are marked as unreadable. I currently have 15 files on the SD card (Sandisk Extreme Pro 300MBit/s). LR Classic on the MacBook Pro recognises 13 files, LR on the iPad recognises 14 files. In the Finder's preview view I can look at all 15 files.

So the problem is probably more with LR. Under these conditions, I'll probably have to switch back to JPG.

I have already formatted the memory card several times (in the camera), but the problem always occurs sporadically.

Thank you very much in advance for your tips and/or suggestions.

Many greetings

Marco

The file is failing for me too - however MacOS will open and save the file as HEIC - but only in 8 Bit.  I've attached your file to the bug I've written for the CR team to investigate.

Thank you for the report and the sample file.

Is it possible for you to supply a file that Lightroom fails to read for us to review?

Thanks!

LATEST

Greetings all,

I am running into the same issue with the following combination of equipment: Fujifilm X-T5, SanDisk Extreme Pro SDSDXEP-128G-ANCIN and Macs. Four files from a recent trip where I took about 1000 look fine in Mac Preview and Digikam, but neither LR CC nor LR Classic will import just these four.

Rikk, will send you a direct message with a link.

Andrew
