ACR upgrade presets missing and too slow to use

My PC has just installed the latest CC updates and the new ACR has several issues.  The presets I used to have under the curves section have completely disappeared, in fact, I no longer have any curve options such as linear, light etc.

The major problem though, is that the application is now so slow that it's unusable.  If click on any of the category options such as curves, optics or so on, there is a time lag of several seconds before anything happens.

If anyone has encountered similar problems and been able to sort them out, I would be immensely grateful if you would share your know how, because at this rate, I shall have to give up using it!

I think I've sorted it out so I'm adding an update in case it helps anyone else.  I added an exception for Photoshop to Acronis Active Protection. I had to restart ACR to see an improvement.  I also see my curve adjustments now too.
