Can ACR save every few minutes, so my work is not totally lost in a crash?

Is there some way to have ACR periodically save the edits? I was merrily painting away in a complex mask and got lost in time. I had spent some time adding and removing bits of the mask, and the masking was starting slowdown. Then suddenly ACR went away.

Short answer is no. Open/Done equals save.

The longer answer is you can manually save the XMP settings but you asked about it automatically.

Use Lightroom Classic, it instantly saves to its database any thing you do.
