I have a mere 11 .dng files that need repairing and I'm hoping someone with the right software could do it for me as I can't afford to buy the software just for those 11 files. I'd be really grateful for any offers of help.

Moving to the Camera Raw forum.
Did you try the DNG converter. Which software created them? Are they bayered, or debayered?

Thanks for replying. What, and where, is the DNG converter ? As for bayering or debayering, I couldn't tell you that either I'm afraid. They're images that were deleted and then recovered. Their file names have been altered in the process.

"Recovered" files may not be restored correctly. (Nothing to do with the DNG Converter!)
Can you share one (or more) of the image files in Dropbox ? And post the link.
Someone may be able to 'Open' them for you.

Hello Rob. Thanks for the reply. I've never got Dropbox to work on my Mac but here's a WeTransfer link as well if anyone feels they could help. Many thanks. https://we.tl/t-WSQsjkmJ15

I think you are out of luck. I believe the 'Restore' process has not restored the raw data in the DNG files.
Windows File viewer shows the images, but this view will only be the embedded (JPG) preview component of the DNG (960x640pixels). And this 'preview' is the best you are going to get.
If I try to Import to Lightroom-Classic, or open through ACR to Photoshop- all the files show the corruption.
LrC first shows the embedded JPG preview, then slowly reads the files to show the raw data in the DNGs-
Your only hope- I believe is to rescue the preview component of the files and work with the vastly lower quality images.
eg. Faststone Image viewer can export (the preview image) to JPG (960x640pixels)-
