New update with Camera Raw - disabling GPU?

Hi! Recently updated my Photoshop and Camera Raw. When I went to open it, it says "Camera Raw requires graphics processor acceleration to edit photos". I've been trying to go in to settings and check, but everything looks like it should (to my knowledge). What can I do to make it work, anyone with the same problem?

I have a Macbook Pro with an M1 graphics card.

Thansk Rikk,

very much appreciate it, that fixed my issue. I had scoured that page for "reset the GPU" to no avail. I had also ignored the section you pasted because it that section is for "(If you're using Camera Raw version 11.3 or earlier) Force Camera Raw to use Windows DirectX or macOS Metal." and that does not apply to CR 16, nor in my mind did Metal have anyting to do with this. 🤷🏻‍♂

For everyone else having this issue, I would also suggest looking for a file in that folder (/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/GPU/Adobe Photoshop Camera Raw/): TempDisableGPU2 or TempDisableGPU3 and delete if either are present.

Wow, that works for me thank you

저도 최신 camera raw 사용시 동일한 상황이 발생했습니다.
FAQ HELP
when run on Win 11, Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050

Installing Ps 2025 shut off Camera Raw 16.5  GPU acceleration.

It was an earlier answer here that helped:

Go to  ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/GPU/Adobe Photoshop Camera Raw/

and delete TempDisableGPU2 or GPU3 file.  Note: ~/ means your User Library. That's where the ACR GPU folder is.

Restart Photoshop or Bridge and ACR is now working.

So I'm back in business. ACR 17.0 won't install, MacOS 13.1 is the minimum.

same thing ,Was working proprly and this hapen  when opening in camera raw the masege Camera raw requieres aceleretion to edite photos. Camara raw is not suported by your system. Did what PS sugest, to go to Edit>Preferences>Performance>Use graphic procesor is on off can not put in in auto. My CPU is NVIDIA GeForce RTY 3060. Is ther a simple solution?

Reinstalled Camera Raw, worked. Frustrating when Adobe suggests everything else. Computer brand new, with high end specs, worked just fine, until suddenly did not. Problem is squarely in Camera Raw, a bug to be fixed....by Adobe...

I agree. I'm having the exact same problem. Brand new (desk top) computer. 13th Gen Intel Core i7.  Camera Raw was working fine yesterday and suddenly its not. Same thing happened on my older desk top last week.

I had the same problem on myt Dell 5510 laptop and just downgraded back to Camera Raw 14, which does work fine with the GPU. Advice like 'save your files to another file format' just makes me angry.

Thanks for posting! I have been caught out by this when the new Raw update installed with the new Bridge & PS update, for machine learning. My system is quite old and I am unable to upgrade the graphics card further on this motherboard, so it would have meant an expensive new pc, but the fix even works with 2024 Bridge and PS. So many thanks again.

I've gotten a response from my support team at my workplace. They're saying it's my latest update on my mac, Sonoma 14.1 that is making this problem occur. I'm not the expert, so bare with me, but they're saying that Adobe and Mac updates aren't always aligned with each other and that's why this happens, cause they're not "keeping up" with each other. I'm gonna uninstall Sonoma 14.1 and go down to the earlier version, 14.0. Hopefully this can help 🙏

yeah, No. I am on Sonoma 14 (I have not updated to 14.1) It was working last week and not now. I did notice that photoshop updated to 25.1 over the weekend.

downgrading to PS 25.0 did not do anything. Photoshop says the GPU is OK. This seems to be a Camera Raw issue. Perhaps I was wrong about it working last week and I was working in lightroom instead of Photoshop... It's possible that it hasnt worked since Camera Rw 16 was installed on October 10th? I have been out of the studio a lot this month. All I know is that I have spent a couple hours on deadline trying to figure out why I cant edit using camera raw in PS. Anyone have a clue?

This is a bug because your computer is definitely supported.

Thanks! This file removal worked for me.

See: https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/acr-gpu-faq.html#photo-editing
It was published earlier this year.

If you have a GPU and are still seeing this message you might want to go through the rest of the troubleshooting article.

Hi Rikk, based on the article CR should do basic things when GPU is turned off, true?  I request Filter/CameraRaw  and Photoshop locks up with GPU turned off.  Does this indicate anything specific?
I do not get a specific error message. Just locks up PS.
I have deleted folders as suggested. I have tried PS 26, 25, & 24. All fail at exactly the same spot.
I have updated GP (Intel 620). Tried older drivers.   I can't find anything in this forum I haven't tried.
Any suggestion would be most appreciated.

Got the same issue as well.  Based on lack of response I'm pretty sure that Adobe has crossed it off the list.
