This post applies to Camera Raw.
Lightroom Classic and Lightroom Ecosystem feedback can be found here.
Previous Early Access Feedback can be found here.

Generative Remove makes it easier to remove unwanted objects and distractions with a simple gesture, even on complex backgrounds. For more accurate results, be sure to include the object's shadow in your selection and/or expand its size.

Detect Objects uses AI to find the objects underneath a brushed area. The masked areas will now appear larger than the Early Access version of this feature. You can also circle objects for quicker selection now.

We have also updated the spot selection experience to make it easier to manage variations, switch the fill type, refine the selection area, or re-generate as needed.

Batch updating is also now supported for Generative Remove spots.

As Generative AI analyzes portions of the image that have been cropped out, Camera Raw has the ability to toggle Show Uncropped Image is now available to guide you in your Generative Remove selection.

Try out the latest updates and share your feedback with us here. Please also include the following details in your post:
  • App version
  • System details
  • Example image(s) if you wish to share

Our team continually monitors this thread to track issues for future improvement. Thanks!

I am having more success with generative remove in the Photoshop app than the generative remove in Camera Raw.

Example 1 is the original picture.

Example 2 is using generative remove in the Photoshop 2025 app (MacBook Pro with Sequoia 15.1.1}

Example 3 is using generartive remove in the Camera Raw Filter.

I have the latest app updates  PS (V. 26.2).  Running Win 10 on a PC.  I've checked "Technology Previews".   I am trying to work on a raw file (.RW2) but am told that "Distraction removal is not currently compatible with this file format."  What am I missing?

You need open a Raw file directly in Photoshop.   You can't pass it from Lightroom

I have tried using the new reflection removal on a dozen or more DNG files (converted from CR2 to DNG during LRC import) some with nois reduction some without. In all cases it makes a total mess of each image. (see attached). I am using MacOS 15.1.1 on a 2019 iMac 27" with the latest version of LRC and Photoshop. Is there anything I can do differently or just wait until it improves?

Update (Dec 2024):  With the new release, it is no longer necessary to perform Generative Remove Operations prior to Cropping.
Update (August 2025) With the new release, the Generative Remove Engine has been updated.

I am not sure if this is where to mention this... So one removes spots etc etc... but if you undo... you are undoing all the previous work, and not only the very preceding action.  Can we undo without undoing all the work?

It used to be possible to change what type of Remove was being applied to a given Remove spot.  It seems you can't switch the mode of a spot any more?
