This post applies to Camera Raw.
Lightroom Classic and Lightroom Ecosystem feedback can be found here.
Previous Early Access Feedback can be found here.

Generative Remove makes it easier to remove unwanted objects and distractions with a simple gesture, even on complex backgrounds. For more accurate results, be sure to include the object's shadow in your selection and/or expand its size.

Detect Objects uses AI to find the objects underneath a brushed area. The masked areas will now appear larger than the Early Access version of this feature. You can also circle objects for quicker selection now.

We have also updated the spot selection experience to make it easier to manage variations, switch the fill type, refine the selection area, or re-generate as needed.

Batch updating is also now supported for Generative Remove spots.

As Generative AI analyzes portions of the image that have been cropped out, Camera Raw has the ability to toggle Show Uncropped Image is now available to guide you in your Generative Remove selection.

Try out the latest updates and share your feedback with us here. Please also include the following details in your post:
  • App version
  • System details
  • Example image(s) if you wish to share

Our team continually monitors this thread to track issues for future improvement. Thanks!

Useful that this feature is now in ACR.  Its a shame you cant use text prompts like you can in photoshop, however just found a big problem for me ... My work flow is to open the raw files, make all the slider adjustments & also using the removal tool & then the last step I use is denoise (often Im shooting very low light with action - such as a show - so I use a fastish shutter speed but high iso so lots of noise) ... If I use the removal tool AI 1st then run denoise Im finding that the area under the denoise is completely changing.  For example Id wanted to remove a particular person.  AI removal had done this with a great result.  I ran denoise ... & suddenly on my new dng file I have these really random weird looking person suddenly appear.  This has happened to me on the last 5 images where Ive tried to remove a person ... ran denoise & then some weird warped person has appeared !? Running, version 17.0.1.2048 Mac running Sequoia 15.0.1 with Canon R3 CR3s - just thought it was worth mentioning 🙂

I don't understand why reflection does appear in my camera raw after checking the "tech preview" box and AI.  When I click on the remove icon there is no choice for reflection.

Are you by any chance using the Camera Raw Filter accessed from Photoshop? You need to use the Camera Raw Plugin on a RAW file to see this feature.

Remove feature excellent in majority of cases, need to play around with area masked to get best results or can be weird or brilliant. However this is stimied as the revert facility does not step backwackwards of last remove, but is total remove so lose all other removals. Not helpful if many small or medium removals to make. Does create plenty of practice if annoying, please add single steps back in single session please.

I've noticet weird noisy artifacts when opening and editing an image with applied Remove and Heal edits - see attached images.

I can individually edit and Refresh each Remove/Heal spot edit, BUT Clicking on Update AI Settings fixes ONLY the selected spot edit, NOT ALL edits on an image?!? This is unacceptable?! I cannot Refresh hundreds of Spot Remove/Heal edits on each image after editing it and using masks, etc.

How can I fix this??

Selecting a single Edit and hitting refresh fixes ONLY the selected Edit, but hitting "Update AI Settings" in the top left corner does absoltely NOTHIING for every other Edit - it remains with this weird noizy texture?!?

The Generative Remove tool doesn't work very good on removing cars. The tool it self is very good. But when it comes to cars it always replaces the car of multiple cars with another car. When I'm looking for a 'remove' I do not want a 'replace'.

Used generative remove today few times. Worked great. BUT! On one image I needed to remove two people. Removed 1st - fine, tried to remove second one - person was removed, but on the same plase apeared other men from God know where! He wasn't on my photo. Closed camera raw, reopened tried one more time - some other figure materialized from thin air. Is it a fiture? 🙂

I realize this is a new feature but it is failing miserably on night time images from a Las Vegas hotel room. Most of the reflections are only reduced around fifty percent and not removed at all and that is at "100%" removal setting. Hopefully this will improve in the near future. I am saving the raw files for a go at it later.

Generate Remove tool is very useful in the cases where there is some unwanted object sudenly comes before lens and can not be avoided. For Arts shake this tool has helped a lot. I like it .
