Hello,
removing reflections is a great tool, but I would like a extra option to exclude / include regions of a picture.
Sometimes parts are wrongly seen as reflections.
Taking over parts from the original after removing them is difficult because there is a difference in shade.

No it doesn't make it easier! I want to be able to choose the area that it clones from and as far as I can tell that is no longer possible. I'm just removing dust specks and distant birds but I like doing this in Camera Raw so that if I go back and make further alterations I don't have to redo removals. The AI tool frequently does not choose a compatible area to clone from but before I could alter its choice. Can I have the old tools back please!

I think you are mistaken. Generative Remove never had the option to choose a source area.
You are probably confusing this with the Heal and Clone Options each of which has a source area which the user is able to move if necessary. If you don't see that option then press "V" to reveal the overlay.

I was referring to the clone tool, apologies. I had completely missed the tiny tick box at the bottom, it used to be in a logical place with the visualise spots. I can't say I'm impressed with the Generative Remove either as unless an area is completely plain it seems to struggle.

Apple Macbook M3, Camera Raw 17.2 Remove tool is dead slow. Using Erase it starts off ok, but then if you hacve a lot of spots to get rid of, it begins to pinwheel frequently slowing down my work until I can't do any more and have to wait for up to 10 minutes for it to finish all the spots. SOmetimes appearing to freeze with a white outline of an area selected. Pinwheeling is miserable. What is the problem here?

just used for a construction image. i needed a photo of a wall but all the saftey features are more distracting than the wall. You'd never remove them in real life, as that's a hazard. So i had to take the photos and hope for the best in editing. I loaded it into bridge, then it opened in camera raw. i got the notif about the AI so i figured i'd try it. INCREDIBLE RESULTS. very coool to see. this could have taken me a while to do, getting all the gravel right and the angle of the ditch that is dug within the area i had to recreate. this got the angle right, got the gravel, even gave me 3 variations!!! i was gonna use the first one because i was so impressed, but the third added little scuffs on the ground, giving me a bit of a distraction from the maybe AI artifacts that will probably be in the photo upon further inspection. i havent ran through the whole outline in detail yet im for real just so impressed with this i had to give a positive review. ok ttyl

Spot removal using generative AI is replacing the hot pixels with symbols?

It would be great to be able to back track when using the remove tool. Here's why: I somewhat successfully removed unwanted folds in a sweater worn by the subject that also needed a bit of a "tummy tuck", which I performed with the warp tool later in Photoshop. After finished, I noticed a few things on the sweater that I hadn't noticed previously. Parts of the sweater "fix" were rendered blurry. It would be great to be able to identify where the remove tool started doing that by being able to go back in its history step by step rather than having to start all over. Thanks in advance.

Look in Camera Raw Preferences and check this box.
That said, refelection removal currently does not work for small reflections such as spectacles.

Still having occasional issues with remove- maybe 5-10% of the time I am getting same error message as before about transparent image areas, whatever that means. Usually, I will have done several images that are similar without any problem, but then all of a sudden on the next image, I get this message. Usually if I go away from the image and come back to it, reselect the area again, and try to do the remove it usually works, but not always.
Also getting some new and different error messages today:
It is really frustrating when you are trying to get a job out the door, and your tools keep failing…

I just updated to the newest version of ACR, 17.4, and Bridge, 15.1.0, for Mac. I was able to remove the object from the image that caused me problems earlier, giving me the expected three choices each go round. But when I went to a second image, and tried the same exact procedure, it no longer gave me three options, but instead just made the change to the image without me having a choice, of three variations!
I don’t understand why the behavior for Generative Remove has changed, using the same program, same settings, from one image to the next…

I later tried Generative Remove on the same image, and this time it went back to giving me the three choices. I did about 20 more images, and the behavior seemed the same as previous versions– I would see the three different choices that I could choose from (or Generate again).
Then today, I worked on a couple of images, again getting three choices from Generative Remove, but then on a similar image, it again reverted to only one choice which it automatically applied – this time I took a screenshot to show you how the window looked:
I never had this happen in previous versions of ACR. Why does Generative Remove only give you one choice (and automatically apply it), in certain situations, but not others?

I am unable to offer any assistance with this issue, but I am able to confirm that I too have begun to see this happen intermittently with ACR 17.4.
I eagerly await comments from those who know more than we do!
