P: New Camera Raw File Support - Requests & Information

For a complete overview of camera support in Photoshop and Lightroom, visit the following article:

Why doesn't my version of Photoshop or Lightroom support my camera?

  1. Make sure your version of Photoshop or Lightroom is updated for the latest camera support.
  2. If you own an older version of Photoshop or Lightroom, Adobe provides backward compatibility for the latest cameras through the FREE Adobe DNG Converter.

Note: ETAs for specific cameras are not available.

I just bought a Sony A7iv, maybe the most anticipated camera in many years.

Trying to import the raw pictures into Lightroom I am met by "file not supported".

When will I be able to use my camera?

In reality, no one can answer that question. We are either under NDA and can't specify or, some will just guess.

Adobe is working on this, that much I can say.

Anybody got an idea when there will be support for the Sony A7iv? I've got the camera for more than a week now, and I can't edit photo's.

Adobe will likely follow their regular procedure, no announcement, release new Camera model support with regular Lightroom/ Adobe Camera Raw updates. Updates have been every two and half to three months in recent times.

Surely the Camera manufacturer provided you with software, for the camera they sold you, to enable you process the raw files that the camera produces.

Hi, apparently you have to wait (until when? who knows...)... I hope you are happy like me to have purchased your gear at first...

As others have mentioned, it could be months until the next release. If this is the case, then I would have to request a refund from Adobe for the months I am unable to edit A7iv ARW images.

I appreciate that Adobe require the camera etc, however YouTube reviewers have had the camera for months, so surely Adobe could have requested a model before general release?

Thats true, although I got my hopes up as for the past 4 years, adobe did release an update in the first two weeks of december.

I do think though, there is a pretty good chance we update will come in december. I just checked the prior releases which brought support of the a7ii, a7iii and a7r iii and all came within two months of announced of the camera or one month after the camera hitting the stores,
