I just recently got a canon 77d and trying to open camera raw with photoshop cs6 but it wont. A message pops up to make sure I have the latest update. I have installed the latest update of 9.1.1 which according to the site should support raw for the 77d. Any idea what could be happening? Thank you

Canon EOS 77D support was added in ACR 9.10 https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html

Cameras supported by Camera Raw

Camera Raw 9.1.1 was the last version of Camera Raw in CS6 so you won't be able to open CR2 files from this camera model.

Camera Raw plug-in and Adobe application compatibility

The alternative would be to use the most current DNG converter.

Adobe Digital Negative Converter

or to Update to Photoshop CC.

I hope this helps!

Well you have a conflict: yes 9.1.1 should open the 77d images but 9.1.1 will not work with CS6.

1) You have two options: upgrade to the Photoshop-Lightroom plan

or

2) download the latest DNG Converter and pre-convert your images. Adobe Digital Negative Converter

The only issue here is that any newer lenses you may get may not be available within ACR.

Let us know if this works out.

yes 9.1.1 should open the 77d images but 9.1.1 will not work with CS6.

Just for clarification, I think you mean:

  • 9.1.1 (nine point one point one) will not open 77D images. That camera was first supported in 9.10 (nine point ten)
  • CS6 cannot be updated beyond 9.1.1
