P: (PS, Elements, LR) should support Fuji's new CMOS EXR Sensor

I would like to see Fuji's newest CMOS-EXR sensors supported in ACR so that Photoshop, Elements and Lightroom are all available to die-hard Adobe users. I've tested the new F550EXR extensively and the new sensor is a winner. The RAW files are amazing for a compact with a 1/2" sensor. See http://kimletkeman.blogspot.com for my articles (31 and counting.)

But my all-Adobe work flow is seriously hampered by Fuji's RAW being forced through its proprietary converter first before I move it to ACR6 and then CS5. It's messy and the results, in my opinion, are inferior to what they would be if I could go directly to ACR6 first and then to CS5 Elements 9 or Lightroom 3. As a long time all Adobe user, I and a lot of others would deeply appreciate support for this wonderful new sensor.

Thank you Adobe, thank you Tom! From the little I've seen so far, the Camera Raw update is doing a very good job with the RAF files from Fuji's EXR cameras.

First, thanks to Adobe for the EXR support. This has really enhanced my workflow and cemented my loyalty to Adobe. Now that that's out of the way, there's a peculiar thing going on with Adobe 6.4 processing HS20EXR files. I posted the following bug report:

When opening more than one Raw file created by Fujifilm HS20EXR (.RAF), all files except the first opened are resized. For example, when the original file size is 4608x3456, the subsequent files are opened resized to 4096x3072.
This occurs regardless of how many files are opened.
Steps to reproduce bug:
1. In Adobe Bridge CS5: Select two or more .RAF files.
2. Select either "Open", or "Open in Camera Raw"
Results: Files are opened in ACR with all but the first file resized.
Expected results: All files opened in ACR are opened at their original size.

PS & LR4 lack of support for the Fuji X-trans processor, thus making the X-pro 1 and its relatives less appealing. The current level of support is not satisfactory, provided that open source alternatives work better then a paid software. The point is not blaming Fuji for not disclosing information (they say the contrary, BTW) but the level of customer support you're able to achieve.
Not thoroughly supporting a format like the Fuji RAF is a bad service to your customer base.

Please check out the Lightroom and Camera Raw release candidates:

http://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjourn...

Lightroom 4.4 RC and Camera Raw 7.4 RC include a correction to the demosaic algorithms for Fujifilm cameras with the X-Trans sensor. This specifically impacts the following cameras:

Fujifilm X-Pro1
Fujifilm X-E1
Fujifilm X100S
Fujifilm X20

Lightroom 4.4 came and went with no support for the new HS50EXR and F900EXR. I have these cameras from Fuji for the next 3 weeks or so for review, and unfortunately I am stuck with JPEG or with hacking the RAW files to fool the converter.

I don't suppose you have a beta for 4.5 that might have fledgling support for these cams 🙂 ? They have the new PDAF sensor, but it is still a 1/2" EXR sensor and so should use all the same basic demosaic etc as everything since the F550EXR and HS20EXR ...

Anyway, please support these new cameras as soon as feasible. Many thanks.
