The total file size for this project is about 35 MB but everything loads slowly when published. Buttons react slowly and slides start with a white or grey backgrond and slowly transitions to the real slide background. This was developed in Captivate 5 and project size is 1024 by 768. Any pointers?

Hi,
Can you give us the details of your machine configuration like type of OS, RAM size etc
Also, can you check whether it is a generic issue happening for all of your projects or specific to any particular file?
Thanks,
Vikranth.

Hey Vikranth,
The OS is Windows 7 with 4GB of Ram. The issue is happening with all projects at this time. Wonder if I need to change some settings in Captivate?

Hello oluolu,
Here are few steps that you can try to resolve your issue
Try to create a Test project and use these following steps
STEP 1> Go to Edit> Prefernces> Project (left side)>Sef Size and Quality> Select the same settings mentioned in the screenshot below
STEP 2>If your Projhect has widgets, animations etc, you can check these optionhs as well
STEP 3> In the slide properties, set Quality to Low
STEP4 > As mentioned by Lilybiri above, try to clear cache as well
Also Make Sure that you are using the latest version opf Flash player, if not you can update to latest from here

Hope it helps!!!
Thank you

Hello,
The tips by Vishal are for reducing filesize, but I do not know if this is possible because it will also lead to decrementing the quality of course.
I suppose you do use a preloader, you can also try not to load 100% at once, but decrease this amount to about 10% as you can see in the screenshot:

Hi Lilybiri and Vishal:
Sorry for my late reply. I tried both of your suggestions but they didn't resolve the issue. I finally realized that the projects that I was having issues with were resized from 1024x768 to 1024x560. I had to recreate the project using the elements from the problematic one but not the slides themselves.
Thanks for your suggestions anyway. Very much appreciated.

Hi Oloulu, Can you expand upon your fix? Was it the rescaling of the project that caused the problem? I also am experiencing a sluggish play from the swf. My project was done in ppt and then linked into Captivate, when I brought it in I did rescale it. Thanks.

As far as I could tell it was all due to the rescaling. I reused all the lements in my do over and maintained all other settings and there was no reoccurence.
