I have changed all settings. audio works in every way on my computer with all other applications including audio recording aplications. I have been to ten forums and tried everything. THis is the only program that audio will not play back in. Audio file shows up. Suipposedly records, I can see the waveform and everything, animation even plays but no audio. No mutes, everything is working but... no audio. Please help, I have deadllines.

Are you on the latest version (22.5) of Character Animator? And are you on Windows or macOS?

If you open Character Animator's Preferences dialog box, in the Audio Hardware section, do the settings look correct for Default Output, etc.? If you can change them, click OK, then change them back to the intended setting, does audio now play back?

We'll need to know more information to be able to help. Both Mac and Windows support the "System Default", so if your system sound is working, you should be able to choose that within the audio preferences.

Do you use any other Adobe apps like Audition, Premiere, or After Effects? If so, are you having audio issues there too?

I am in the new version on windows. The settings are correct. Changing them and changing them back does not make it work still.
