Crash Crash Crash

Been working on my project for days, only for it to act funny earlier..wasn't playing back and the speed was super slow. So, I closed it out...it's supposed to auto-save, right? I mean I've seen it save a version just about everytime I do something...Anyway, I open my project back up and where is the stuff I've been working on for the past week? Gone!!!!!!! Everything... Whole days of work disappear without a trace...I look in the history and the history reverts back to a week ago!!!!! WTH!!!! Now I just feel bummed smh.
