Dragger for 2 arms

New Here ,
Dec 13, 2024 Dec 13, 2024

Hello everyone,

I’ve created a character in AI and set up the two arms to be animatable via draggers. According to the recording tutorial, you can animate the arms separately by assigning a second dragger. However, after adding the second dragger, both arms are still controlled by the first one.

In the error window, CH shows me the message:

“The handle tagged as magnet is not used by any behavior.”

Can someone help me fix this so I can animate each arm independently?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Bjoern

When you double click on the error, does it show you the affected layer? In your case, it's possible you've added a behavior that is not being used by the model. Is it possible for you to share a screenshot of your puppet showing the rigging for the arms?

There is a "magnet" tag on the elbow of the right arm, which could be causing your problems. Delete the tag and replace it with "right elbow" and let's see if that fixes things.

The easiest way is to select the tag to highlight it and press "delete" from the keyboard. Keep us posted.

ok - just ried to record the arms in 2 passes - and it works, that i seperately animate them, without affecting the other arm. i guess this is not how it is meant to be, but as it works - i´m happy with the solution!

Yes, since you only have the one input, you can only operate one dragger at a time. However, there is another option, which is more advanced. CH will allow you to us the camera to control the body of the puppet. This video explains how it works: Body Tracking (Adobe Character Animator)

To make it work, some new behaviors need to be added to the puppet - Body and Limb IK - in the root directory. Additionally, you can add the Motion Library behavior in the same location to take advantage of some pre-built animations. This video explains how that works: Motion Library (Adobe Character Animator Tutorial)
