I am trying to change the program background color to a paler shade. How can I do that?

Do you mean in the UI or in a scene? In a scene you can fill a rectangle in a paint program then load that image as a puppet, scale it to cover the screen, and put it behind character. Nit sure what the latest UI supports.

Thanks AlanK. I am seeking to shift the user interface. Some of my characters are dark skined and I have trouble seeing their various 'parts'.

Oh, I see. So its in the rigging panel for your artwork? In the bottom right corner in the central puppet panel (where the artwork is shown), next to the percentage value, is a little square. You can click this to toggle between black/white/checkerboard background colors. I think that will do what you need.

Another hack is to add a new colored (e.g. white) rectangle to your artwork behind everything else the same size (or smaller) as the bounding box of your your existing artwork, then make the layer independent and hide it when done. If you make the rectangle larger than the existing artwork it can mess up the origin position, but if a little smaller or the same size it should not move anything. If you make it independent it should not mess up any warping and you can just un hide it when rigging, then hide it when done.

But I think the above button is best and will hopefully satisfy your needs.

A bit of a hack, but if
