Sample rate is not supported by the current audio device

I have a mid 2012 mac tower running 10.11.6 with an ATI Radeon 5770 card.

I'm using a Logitech c920 USB webcam.

The camera function is working fine but I cant get it to record audio. It gives the above error.

This particular camera's mic unfortunately has too low of a sample rate to work with CH. See:

We recommend getting an external USB microphone to use with this webcam.
