Transforms reset after Edit Original - bug or feature?

Hi, I adjusted some transforms such as size in CA 3.1 because it's actually easier with all those poses and groups in CA than in Photoshop. Then I eventually did Edit Original in Photoshop.

Problem: If I so much as touch the original PSD, the transforms in CA reset - completely gone. Is that intended? It's super annoying and seemingly unnecessary. Any tips? Thanks!

There are different modes the software can be in, and the mode affects where your transforms are held. Some might get reset when editing, others not.

For example, the puppet has default settting that you can change. When you arm the recording, you can overwrite the default settings and record new settings for the scene. Those values will then override the default. But if you are armed ready for recording (but have not started recording) you can change the values so the value is ready for when you start recording. This value would probably be lost when you edit original.

Another trick - you can add multiple Transform behaviors to a puppet (and rename them to be less confusing). So you could add one transform as a general rescaling, and a second to use for recordings. That way you can adjust the two values separately. (I have not tried this myself, but I think it should work... You can certainly put additional transforms on child layers, e.g. on the hand or head - e.g. to use rotation that only affects a hand.)

If the above does not make sense, can you describe the exact steps your are doing. I don't believe edit original should affect recordings - that would mess too much up.

Oh, another thing to try is the "reset" button at the bottom of the scene. Especially holding down ALT when pressing the "reset" button (two arrows in a circle) flushes some internal caches in case Ch got confused. But my first guess is you were in record mode but had not made an actual recording, so Edit Original just reset things because they were not actually recorded or made the default for the puppet (in rigging mode).

In this case, I'm trying to modify the built-in unicorn puppet in Rig view. I vastly prefer to do it in CA because in Photoshop, you can't filter out layers, multiselect and do transforms on that but you can in CA. Say, make ears smaller. When I do that in CA and then Edit original that in Photoshop, (maybe even just change color of an element), ears reset to default scale.

Also, head turning driven by camera doesn't work anymore after editing original. I didn't make any changes in names or hieararchies.

I make the transforms in Rig mode, in the Properties/Layer panel.

Thanks for your answer!
