Question

Is Railo a good and secure alternative to ColdFusion?

I am a entry level PHP developer and am looking to get into CFM development.  I like the features available in Dreamweaver CS5 for rapid CFM development.  I am looking to build website for my clients quickly, but also using minimal lines of code.

Is Railo a good alternative to Coldfusion?  Is it as safe to use in a hosting environment?  I will use my CF Developer's Edition to develop locally.  I cannot afford the full ColdFusion license as I am just starting out, but I would like to develop sites using it.  I have my own hosting servers and do not want to host the sites elsewhere as I am already paying for my server.

Also, if anyone uses Railo, do you develop with Dreamweaver CS5 or CF Builder?  Any advantages or disadvantages?

Thank you in advance.

Bryan

bump...Has anyone used any of these Open Source alternatives in a production environment?  Are they safe to use on a shared hosting server?

I am still a Railo "novice". But I know it is being used on a number of production sites. As this forum is more geared towards ACF, the Railo list would be a better place to get answers to your questions. It is an active list with some very knowledgeable, and helpful, members.
