System Information "Browse Server" never returns

HI- We're running cold fusion 8 on RHEL5, accessing the site using SSL. Trying to apply hotfix #3 but must have a bad setting somewhere because when I log into the Administrator and go to "System Information" then click on "Browse Server", it brings up the "Select File on the Server" panel and says "retrieving initial directories" then spins it's wheels indefinately. . .
