macOS Sonoma Adobe apps have old profile picture

Community Beginner ,
Jan 02, 2024 Jan 02, 2024

This is a silly bug, but it's driving me up the wall. I've tried everything. I need help!

All my Adobe products show my correct profile picture except Photoshop. It shows my old profile picture. I've tried changing it again, deleting it and re-adding it, and uninstalling and reinstalling Photoshop... nothing seems to work.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to why Photoshop would be showing my old profile picture?

Hi all, an update from me as well. I kind of gave up a couple of weeks ago after spending to much time on this without solving the problem.

But yesterday it suddenly worked in the online apps (like Adobe fonts and Adobe Express), but not in InDesign, Illustrator or Photoshop. I then tried removed my profile picture again (got the cake avatar) and then added the picture again, and then it finally worked!! Note that I of course had tried this step a couple of times before... So case closed for me f

@jhardyua log out and back in? Check your account on adobe.com - what image is shown there?

Hi @Kevin Stohlmeyer, yes I have logged out and back in several times. My account at adobe.com shows the correct image. That's where I have changed it several times, including removing and re-adding it. I've even tried a different picture.

Potentially more helpful information: my Community profile image says it pulls from my Adobe account, but it's clearly not working, either.

Nevermind, I figured out the Community issue - it does not use the Adobe account image. The original issue remains.

Hi! Did you solve this issue? I am having the same problem. But in all apps. In the Adobe account settings the profile image is displayed, but in apps there is a "cake" avatar.

Hi @Petra Wi the "cake" avatar is the basic profile image. Two things to try -

1. Sign out of your Creative Cloud Desktop App and log back in. That should force a sync.

2. Try uploading a different/smaller image.

No, this was never resolved, and as you can see it's been largely silent for over a year. I don't think Adobe cares. I have tried all the basic stuff: logging out, logging in, trying a different image, resizing the image, uninstalling, reinstalling, trying an entirely different machine, standing on one leg while I click save, asking the cosmos about the meaning of life... I've tried it all. I even tried using brand name creamer in my coffee to no avail. The Adobe profile photo will forever be my greatest failure in life.

Hi Kevin. Thank you for your reply. I have already tried to sign in and out. I also got peronal assistance from Adobe yesterday and they tried several actions remotely (I shared my screen).  They also cleared som cache files on my mac. Non of it worked. They will get back within 24 hours cause she needed to bring this back to the team.
But I have not tried your second suggestion, to upload a smaller image (mine is 251 kB). I will try this after I get feedback from Adobe, so i don't mess with their actions.

I haven't tried standing on one leg ;). I did however get personal support from Adobe for approx 30 minutes yesterday. They got remote access and also tried some of your suggestions plus a bunch of other stuff. Did not work for them either. So now I am waiting for response to see if their team can solve it together when their agent couldn't. Really weird bug for some of us.

The original issue was reported in Photoshop 2024 on macOS Sonoma.

Does it still exist in Photoshop 2025 on macOS Sequoia?

Hi John. Yes, I use macOS Sequoia (15.3.2) and the bug is there.

Hi everyone,

I’ve also been able to reproduce this—the outdated profile image shows up across all Adobe desktop apps for me, even though the correct image appears on the web (Adobe account page, HelpX, Behance, etc.).

From what I understand, this doesn’t seem to be specific to Photoshop or any individual app. These profile images are managed at the Creative Cloud account level, so they likely fall under the Creative Cloud team’s scope rather than the Photoshop product team's scope directly.

That said, I’ll still check in with the Photoshop team to see if they’re aware of this or have any additional insights to share. Will keep you all posted if I hear anything helpful.

Best,

Anshul Saini

Note: Since this is affecting more than just Photoshop at this time, I've moved to the Creative Cloud bugs section where we can merge similar bug reports into this main thread. Thanks - Kevin

Hey everyone, just a quick update from my side — all my Adobe apps are now showing the latest profile picture correctly! 🙌

I didn’t make any changes recently; I just logged in today and noticed it was finally updated. So it seems like it may have been a backend sync issue that eventually resolved itself.

Thanks, @kevin, for moving this thread to the right community board. Hopefully, someone from the Creative Cloud team can keep an eye on this for others who are still affected.

Best,

Anshul Saini

has your problem resolved, too?

I got a esponse from Adobe yesterday. I did try these steps (cleared cache in three browsers, restared plus unistalled Illustrator as a start and reeinstalled it). Still the vatar in both Illustrator app and in Adobe Fonts and Adobe Express. Strangely my photo is showing correctly in Adobe Stock.

I try again later.

Reply form the Adobe team:

I checked with the backend team, there is no issue on the account the image has been updated on the account profile. There seems to be some issue due to old setting in the application and the cookies and cache on browser is causing the issue on the browser. In this case try to reset the browser cache and delete the cookies and then check the fonts website. It should show the new profile image that you have uploaded on the account.
For the applications, I request you try uninstalling the Adobe Creative Cloud app and reinstall it. After reinstalling the app will have the new cache and the profile image will be the updated one.
I am sure these steps fix the issue. This case will be closed. However if you need any other help you can always reach us.

Thanks for working with us,
Adobe Customer Care

I cannot test this because Adobe will not let me reinstall Photoshop without restarting my subscription. I have no use for Photoshop at this time.

I'm glad to hear it's potentially resolved for others. It was a weird, potentially unimportant, but annoying bug.

@jhardyua confused - so what applications are you currently using if any?

Good question - you'll see that I originally posted this in Jan. 2024, and it was largely silent until Apr. 2025. Between that time, I've changed roles and am no longer doing anything with Photoshop or any Adobe product for that matter. It was annoying at the time, but it doesn't impact me right now.
