Do not auto-update when on a metered network

If the user is on a metered connection, automatically disable updates to the Creative Cloud Desktop app and the individual Apps (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.).

Autoupdate is usually fine, but if the user is on a hotspot or metered network (e.g., working from home), the user probably wants to delay updating until they are on an unlimited connection. Yes, the user could turn off Autoupdate or prevent CC Desktop from booting at launch, but that shouldn't be necessary.

Apps like OneDrive and Outlook disable updating by default on metered networks, prompting the user to actively enable updates. It would be great if CC Desktop worked the same way.

Exactly. This is important. Many people around the world have an 8 GB monthly mobile data plan and this can become a big issue for them. Please make the application pause all updates when on a metered connection.

Thanks for this suggestion @B D T and @aminsadeghi . I've added this to the product backlog.

Hello,

This is still a relevant issue in May 2025. Something was draining my mobile hotspot data and digging in I've found that your Setup.exe used more that 8 GB of data. And it keeps draining it every time I connect to the hotspot. Can you please fix it so it 1. The updates ask if I want to download an update right now and 2. They check the network's settings and see that it is set as metered.

Thank you
