Access Cloud files from other programs

Dear Community,
could someone please help me out as I am a beginner with Adobe file organisation:
I have saved an Illustrator file to the adobe cloud -> 'my files', like it proposes. There are no other folder choices available.
When I want to import the file in After Effects, I cannot manage to find an option to access the files stored in my cloud.
The only option I can find is the "My Libraries" Folder, but of course, my file is not in there, as it was saved to "my files". I can see these two seperate folders in my CC File Panel, but how does this help?
I hope the solution is not to move every file I need by hand to the library folder just to be able to use it in After Effects or other Applications?

Looking forward to your answers,
Daniel

I know that I can save my file locally, but my question is if this is not possible when saving to the cloud?

You'll need to download the file to your local hard drive to access it from Illustrator.

Keep in mind that Cloud Storage is intended for sharing files with clients, collaborators and other devices.  It's NOT a replacement for ample hard disk space, nor should it be used as a backup & recovery system.  There are dedicated file backup services for that like Backblaze.com, DropBox and many others.

If you need more disk storage, invest in 2 TB external drive. Both Western Digital and Seagate make affordable external drives that can be purchased from Best Buy, Office Depot or Amazon.

Hope that helps.

You cannot use an Illustrator cloud file (.aic) anywhere else but Illustrator.

Save them as regular .ai files (with PDF compatibility) if you want to use them in other apps.

So the cloud files are of no use when I want to use them in other apps?
That also means I have to save a copy of the file locally and will have to always save two versions to have one in the cloud and one I can use in other apps stored locally?

Thank you. It seems somewhat sad though.
Allow me a follow-up question:
Is there a good workflow including the Adobe Cloud or do professionals just save locally?

prudent users save locally.  they can also use cc files to collaborate with others as a convenience, but i doubt many entrust file security to any 3rd party (including adobe).

that is incorrect.  the local sync folder (which is not under discussion here) only will discontinue syncing.

Hi, this is Bing. According to the search results, Adobe is discontinuing Synced files for Creative Cloud for all personal users from 1 February 20241, and for business or enterprise users from 1 October 20241. Any new Creative Cloud users from 1 October 2023 will not have access to Synced files capability1. You can still use Creative Cloud Libraries and Cloud documents to sync and share your files2. You can also manually transfer files to and from your cloud storage if desired3. I hope this helps.
