I am trying to use the Creative Cloud app but since a couple of days there is a "Black Friday is on" message window over the application with a single "Upgrade now" button (which works) and everything else is disabled. I can't figure out a way to get rid of this window and use the app.
Does anybody have a solution?
Thanks.

reset the cc desktop app by making sure it's in the foreground, then press:
Win: Ctrl + Alt + R
Mac: Cmd + Opt + R

Nothing is happening. I also tried ending the process from the task manager, then starting cc again, but the same thing happens.

assuming you have an active subscription, ie, check https://account.adobe.com and signed out and back into the cc app with the confirming id/passwod:
repair per https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/kb/creative-cloud-install-stuck.html
if that fails and you have windows, open your control panel > add/remove programs > cc desktop app > repair
if that fails, uninstall using the correct uninstaller from https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-creative-cloud-desktop-app.html#sa_src=web-mes... and then reinstall using*
if that fails, do a clean cc install carefully following each applicable step:
uninstall every cc app including preferences per https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-remove-app.html
then uninstall the cc desktop app, again using the correct uninstaller per https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-creative-cloud-desktop-app.html#sa_src=web-mes...
clean your computer of cc files per http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html
check for, and if available, update your os
if windows is your os, repair all ms visual c++ versions that can be repaired (use google if you don't know how to do this)
if windows is your os update your ms visual c++, if it can be updated (use google if you don't know how to do this)
restart your computer (don't skip this)
reinstall the cc desktop app using the "alternative download links" at the bottom of the page at https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/kb/creative-cloud-desktop-app-download.html
use the desktop app to install your cc programs/trials
NOTE: win 11 users that have trouble with the latest win 10 installer often have success with the older win 10 installer.

Hey @Notis5CB5, sorry to hear that you are stuck here. Are you also not able to click on X button on top right corner? Is that disabled?
Please share logs from machine using log collector tool link: https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-log-collector.html
Also, do try preseeing escape key once to check if it make any difference.

The X button in the top right corner is completely hidden on my screen until you just happen to mouse over it. I've wasted a rediculous amount of time with this issue. Come on Adobe: You can do better than this!

I had been away from my computer for about 3 weeks. When I launched CC today, the black friday sale appeared to lock up my CC desktop app. Read these suoport posts/comments. Tried the suggestions. I had even searched for an X to close the advertisement but couldn't see one because the ad and the bulk of the screen were totally black. I couldn't tell where the ad borders even were! I can't stand wasting time. Drives me nuts. And I do not appreciate forced advertisements. Hence, my complaining. Wish I had thought to hit the <esc> key. Not sure if it really would have worked or not. [growling!]

Good morning: I have had the same problem for a few days now. You can only click to upgrade or X out of the screen. I did have an error message when I got up yesterday morning but I didn't know what it was for. It appeared to error as it couldn't do an upgrade. I rebooted my computer and tried to open it again but the same ad was there, so I tried Esc but it didn't even blink. I figured it would error again when it tried to upgrade and I would send a report. Next time I will just send it :).

I downloaded the repair app and ran it twice and it worked. Thanks for your help.

I guess I responded too soon...the ad is back. When will the ad stop running? I will ride it out a few days and try again.

I had tried Xing out and pressing esc along with a pile of other thing with no success. I followed the directions that you sent after the sale was done and it fixed it. It has been fine since. It literally stopped me dead in my tracks until the sale was over. I like others didn't appreciate the ad coming in that way, email would have been preferred. It was just really time consuming and I had been working on a project. However, Thanks for your assistance and hopefully it won't happen again.
