I was seeing that people were launching Photoshop and seeing an agreement they had to accept in order to launch it, and it sounded like anything at all being created or altered in Photoshop could be used by Adobe in any way they want. I did not see this same thing pop-up in After Effects, this morning. Does anyone know if this is being planned for After Effects as well? My concern is that clients will not allow me to use After Effects, at all, if any footage I use in it is being sent to Adobe to be used however they like.

Long story short in simple terms - in order for Adobe to produce thumbnails, share assets via their services, etc. they need permission to do so. Agreed they could be a lot simpler in the explanation.

"...detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security, legal, or technical issues." Too gray form my liking, but I suppose that unless you have a persecution complex, are conspiracy-minded, or are actually doing illegal things then you're good. For me it's the font police I'm worried about! ;>)

lol the font police is always a concern. 🙂
Any cloud-based company has this verbiage in their TOS to cover themselves from liability should somone use their services/server for illegal purposes - in one of the examples discussed earlier was child pornography.

Ignoring your desire to invade my privacy, I have contracts with clients that would absolutely forbid me from agreeing to these terms when working on their content.
Also, I already paid for your software/license with a particular set of terms of use. Changing the terms after you've already taken my money seems like fraud/theft.
So, how can I opt out of this?

Don't put content on Adobe's servers and don't use their cloud services within Photoshop. That simple.
If you put child P on the Adobe cloud, they will find it, remove it, and report you to the FBI. There is no avoiding that on ANY cloud service.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/
p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

@JohnRael The terms are the same as they have been since Creative Cloud in 2013.

I do alot of NDA work. How do I tell my clients that their work could end up on the internet before the work is completed and the NDA removed because Adobe has decided they have the right to do as they wish with it?
By @jeffhalmos
Don't put it on the cloud. Don't use Adobe's online tools. Best is to pull the internet connection, when working on those projects.
BTW: it's not only Adobe, it's also your telecom provider, especially your e-mail provider. So don't send e-mails! Do not type your letters on a computer, but use a typewriter. Don't use Zoom or Teams or any other communications tool.
The new TOS are not that new, they just more explicitly explain what may happen. Anything local on your computer that is not shared on the net (neither Dropbox nor OneDrive nor Creative Cloud—the data storage, not the programs, nor WeTransfer nor e-mail) stays private on your computer, except if your computer has been compromised by spyware. As for online services, service providers have legal obligations, and they need access to your data to provide you with thumbnails, search results etc. They don't access your data for commercial use, except if you put them online to some service explicitly created for that, like Adobe stock.

I asked a question yesterday about Adobe Terms and NDA issues.
The reply I received suggested turning off Adobe Cloud services.
Where do you do that for the whole suite?

the most important step for you is the easiest. just don't save anything adobe by clicking (or using a shortcut to) file > save.
always use file>save as.. . that way you can insure you're saving locally and not to cc.
next, don't use any adobe mobile services.
and finally, double check by making sure you have no files at the following locations. at each location there are several folders/link to check.:
https://documentcloud.adobe.com
if you delete anything from any of these locations, check for a deleted folder where your file(s) was (were) moved. if you want to clear space you must delete files in the deleted folder. the used storage shown at each of those four sites (when totaled), should match the space shown used by your cc files. more info,

Adobe's online servers host content that you submit to Adobe Stock, Adobe Portfolio, Adobe Express and Behance web sites.
If you never use those services, your content isn't being looked at.

It's good to see that recent 'dodginess' from Adobe's board has resulted in millions being taken off the company's share value. Why can't they just be honest?
I'd like someone to 'name and shame' the genius who thought it was a good idea to 'appropriate NDA information' as part of Adobe's standard practice...

@przone Thats an interesting take given the actual facts.
Adobe's stock price dropped prior to the change in the terms of service.
If you look at the price since the terms fiasco it actually has gone up.

You may be able to explain, how the stock preemptively went down? And as you are that great, explain this:

See here: https://helpx.adobe.com/enterprise/kb/network-endpoints.html
You just need to disable the correct network endpoints.

After reading the latest User Agreement, I am still finding it unclear if Adobe ever trained or is currently training its AI on customers' art they upload to Behance or Adobe Portfolio.
Can someone from Adobe clearly state that the company has never used customer images from Behance or Adobe Portfolio to train its AI?
