Hi,
When updates via CC Desktop are in progress (Windows), the whole network bandwidth is occupied by CC Desktop and there's no way to have any other network related activity on the computer (or even on the local network) until the download is finished.
This is not a new problem but after all these years and all these complaints, it's amazing to see that nothing has been done about this. Not even an option to limit the bandwidth used by CC Desktop.
Are Adobe at home on my computer ?

that's an uncommon complaint (though there are occasional related issues with some users having file sync problems).
do you have narrow bandwidth?
and you can control when apps update.
<moved from cc services, though that's probably the best forum for this>

Hi,
> do you have narrow bandwidth?
I have a 10 Mbit/s DSL connection which is enough to simultaneously and smoothly feed a TV, a music device and download installation programs. No problem. When the Adobe installation programs were directly available, I could download PS, Lightroom and the like whithin a reasonable amount of time.
CC Desktop has always been a source of problems whatever the version. Now downloading the PS/Lightroom installers takes ages and, as mentioned, while the download is incredibly slow, CC desktop prevents me to use the network for doing something else. To make it short, it takes all the bandwidth to download everything very, very slowly. This is the only program demonstrating this behavior.
So, my connection is sufficient to do the job correcly and there's no configuration problem : I have now a brand new powerful PC and reinstalled everything Adobe. Nothing has changed.

It is most certainly NOT uncommon! Everytime creative cloud updates anything, I can't even watch Roku!
If you are falsely assuming that this is uncommon, it's probably because we all just got tired of complaining about it. A simple keyword search shows these types of complaints for YEARS.

I also do not have narrow bandwidth. I have a normal bandwidth which supports several tvs, phones, and 2 laptops easily. The ONLY time I ever have any problems is when creative cloud is running, and updating is 1000x worse.
I am not going to buy more bandwidth and increase my monthly costs just because Adobe can't get it together.
And I just got a new laptop with even higher processing speeds, so it's not that, either.

if you find a bug that can be reproduced by others, report it. you'll need to list all the items essential to reproducing the bug. use the cc desktop bugs forum.

So is that your answer- not enough of us are reporting it? Because when I see complaints dating back years and nothing has improved, I don't have time in my life to constantly play good Samaritan proofreader for your team unless you want to hire me. And by the time I update CC, I barely have time to finish my own work, let alone yours.

stop already.
if you're serious, research and post a bug report.

Hi there,
Did you try using a different network? As mentioned by @kglad , it's uncommon that Adobe would take all the bandwidth.

Hi,
> Did you try using a different network?
I can try to move all my hardware to another location but well, seriously, all Adobe customers in my neighborhood have the same problem. By the way, other users in this forum have already reported that they have exactly the same problem with high-speed connections. No, the problem is with the CC software and/or with the Adobe servers at Amazon (AWS).
> it's uncommon that Adobe would take all the bandwidth.
I guess you and kglad are kidding me. Yes: you are 🙂 , As an Adone employee, if you regularly read this forum, you know that it's not an isolated and recent problem. Just trigger a search with the "bandwidth" keyword and you'll be up-to-date. This problem has been reported multiple times since years.
As a former software engineer, my opinion is that CC Desktop is flawed from the beginning and that nobody wants to diagnose the problem. Please note that we are not talking about file synchronization. We are talking about the download of installation packages.
So, all update sessions in CC Desktop are a nightmare and have always been. That's a fact and that's the point that should addressed. Meanwhile, we should be able to directly download the installation packages. This would be a better solution. Many of us don't need the devilish CC Desktop machinery.

i've never had that problem, and the vast majority of adobe users do not have this problem.
but if you're convinced it's an adobe problem that's unrelated to your computer/network you can make a suggestion to adobe.
for applicable apps, you can make (some) suggestions to adobe here, https://helpx.adobe.com/ie/x-productkb/global/how-to-user-voice.html
for others, use https://www.adobe.com/products/wishform.html

I have this problem. And had it for several versions of CC and MacOS. Have the same problem on the office network and my home network, both gigabit Wan and Lan.
I am using Mac, and today i updated camera raw and another Mac on the same network stop streaming radio several times during the Adobe CC update.
I have noticed the same behavior during startup for the programs to, especially when connecting to the cloud library. And I don't have much there.
This is really bad.

Yeah ! Good idea ! Let me correct your statement, though.
"Update when everyone connected to the network has finished using it".
Sigh !

No. I'm the only one in my house using Adobe products and I have only one Internet connection. However, as already explained above, the local network is also used by other persons in the house, feeds a TV, a music server and a few other things. And I repeat : everything is working fine until I trigger a download in CC Desktop. From that moment, the whole network bandwidth is monopolized by CC Desktop. It is that simple.
So, I'm not looking for a workaround. I want Adobe to fix this problem and to give us a way to limit the bandwidth used by the app when downloading. And no, limiting the sync speed in the Preferences doesn't help. I'm not syncing anything anyway.
And please stop saying that this problem occurs rarely just because you don't have it. It is not new, not rare, and reports about this issue exist since a very long time. Period. Just, Adobe don't care. Not a surprising attitude when considering the long list of significant bugs that I have conscientiously reported since years and that will never be fixed. I can live with them but this one is particularly irritating. And reading posts suggesting that the problem is not with Adobe but with the network or the systems of the many people who have already complained about this is even more irritating.

Samoreen, does this tie into your other discussion about the settings used by the Domain Name Server and other vital Internet settings at https://community.adobe.com/t5/download-install-discussions/slow-cc-updates-a-possible-solution/m-p/...

Not exactly. I have (had) 2 problems with CC Desktop :
1. Downloads being very slow.
2. Network bandwidth being 100% consumed by CC desktop when downloading updates.
The DNS server trick helped accelerate the downloads. I'm now downloading from Germany instead of the USA. So, it's somewhat faster. Problem #2 is still there.

I have the same problem and I'm on a 1000mb connection. Creative Cloud is using 100% of the network speed and I can't do anything else with my computer, not even copy files over the local network. Completely unacceptable.

most of see no such problem. that doesn't help you solve the problem, but does indicate there's something specific to your situation contributing to the problem.
