ADE doesn't recognize Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

I have Adobe Digital Editions on my computer and have been able to load books from my library on to my nook and nookcolor. I recently purchased the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and tried to load a book I just got from the library on ADE but ADE does not recognize the Galaxy Tab as a device. It doesn't show up at all in the library. I've checked the files on the Tab as reccommended by another post on this site. The Adobe Digital Editions file is not on the Tab.

I should have given you a bit more detail. Sorry - who knew?

I don't have a Galaxy, but I 'assume' that it has some setup instructions

that came with it, and one of those is to go on-line to Samsung and register

the device with them. Part of that process will include setting up apps.

The ebook app connects you to the Google bookstore, where you'll probably

have to set up an account with a user ID and password. A small file will be

put on the tablet with that information, which ADE will use to interface

with your tablet.

I don't have a Galaxy, but when I went through this process with SONY, at

one point they asked me whether I wanted SONY to handle epub files, and I

said no, because I was going to use ADE. You might encounter the same thing

with Google - or not. i think the reason they asked is that they wanted to

set up a proprietary linkage with my ereader, which would have bound me to

their ebookstore for all of my downloads.

The Aldiko application on my Galaxy Tab did ask to be authorized and everything went through all right but the Tab is still not recognized on the ADE software.

I've tried all the reccommendations and nothing has worked yet. I have registered my Galaxy Tab 10.1 with Samsung. I've deleted any e-book applications, I've loaded Aldiko. Still ADE doesn't recognize my Tab. Any other options anyone can think of?

OK, I've found the problem.

Ebook app added to tabled doesn't read DRMed books. I've downloaded other app (Aldiko 2.0) and then authotization worked,

The supported devices list shows only 'Galaxy Tab' with Android OS (here

<http://blogs.adobe.com/digitalpublishing/supported-devices> is the list),

which may mean that the latest version is not supported yet - or not....

Pardon me if you know all of the rest of this - I have no way of knowing

whether you do, and I am trying to help.

It probably is supported, so I would suspect that there's something wrong

with the setup. You didn't say whether you've registered the Galaxy with

its parent, but the fact that ADE files are missing from the device is a

clue that you may not have done so yet. You need to do that to activate it

so that it'll work with ADE. When you do the registration, you'll be asked

for a user ID: use your Adobe user ID and password so that it'll be

compatible with ADE.

Given all that, then you need to follow a particular sequence in order to

establish contact all the way around. Plug in your tablet to your computer,

and turn it on. Windows should recognize it as a USB hard drive, and tell

you that it's connected, ready to use. Once that's done, then open ADE.

ADE should recognize the tablet and show it in the bookshelf list in Library

view. If it doesn't, ADE may ask you to activate the device, which you can

do with your Adobe ID, and then it will show up (unless something screws up,

naturally).

Now, check the digital rights for the library book. You can do this in ADE

Library view by resting your cursor on the book cover or avatar. A small

arrow will appear at the top. Rest your cursor on that arrow, and you'll

see a drop-down box. Click on that box, and you'll see the digital rights.

SOME library books cannot be transferred to an ereader (which seems a bit

silly, doesn't it?). If copying is allowed to any device, then go back to

Library mode, drag and drop the ebook onto your now visible Galaxy Tablet.

This is probably going to sound stupid, but I'm not sure what you mean by registering the Galaxy Tab with its parent. Since I'm not sure what that means I'm sure I haven't done it, so that's probably my problem
