ADE installs already authorized to unknown account

I just installed Adobe Digital Editions for the first time. I want to use it to access Ebrary downloads, etc.

When I install the software it does not prompt me to give it any authorizatoin information.  Instead, it installs already authorized to an unknown account.  I am the only one who has ever used this computer.  I do have Adobe Creative Cloud on this computer but haven't ever seen an ADE option linked to it. 

I have tried to remove the authorization information but need the login and password to do this, and obviously, if I have no idea where it got the authorization information in the first place, I have no way to know the login information attached to it.  I just want to pull that info and reauthorize so I can read my ebrary books.  It's very frustrating that you need the login info to remove an account that you do not want.

I have uninstalled the software and reinstalled twice, with no improvement.  I simply have no idea where it's pulling the account info from.  The listed account is a long string on of numbers followed by " | 3M"

Any help would be appreciated.

If due to some reason, you are unable to deauthorize ADE, follow the below steps:

Mac:

1. Go-> Go to folder.

Go to folder dialog will appear.

2. Type   ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions

drag the activation.dat file to the trash.

ADE will be deauthorized now.

Now Authorize ADE again [Help -> Authorize Computer].

Windows:

Choose Start > Run.

In the Open text box, type regedit and then press Enter. The Registry Editor opens.

In the left pane of the Registry Editor, locate the following registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adept

Right-click the Adept key and choose Delete.

In the Confirm Key Delete dialog, click OK.

Your authorization will be deleted.

ADE will be deauthorized now.

Now Authorize ADE again.
