Adobe Digital Edition installation

My computer crashes when trying to authorize computer for newly installed ADE. Download seems to go okay but when trying to 'authorize computer' there is an error message that the program has to close. I am following directions from my public library so I can download ebooks to my new kobo reader. This happens when I select the 'authorize computer' option under help. I have rebooted everything, reinstalled ADE and still this is happening. Help!
