Adobe Digital Edition - sell pdf book

Hello,

I am new to Adobe Digital Edition, I got in touch with it while purchasing a pdf book. I am myself a book author. Until now I did not used Amazon to sell my books because they impose another formatting that destroys the lay-out and image formatting of my e-books.

Does Adobe Digital Edition can be used to sell books online in my own website and in third-party online libraries or even in e-Bay and the like? Will it fully and perfectly protect against unauthorized copies of my e-books?

Please, could you point me to online information on the first steps to publish using ADE.
