Adobe Digital Editions quits unexpectedly when trying to transfer ebooks to Kobo

I'm using an iMac. Every time I try to transfer a downloaded ebook to my Kobo, ADE quits unexpectedly. Not sure what to try (have already restarted computer, ejected and re-connected Kobo, etc.) Any ideas?

try ADE 3- apparently 4 is not compatible with Kobo

ADE 4 is incompatible with Kobo. Try ADE 3

I have the same problem but no one seems to be able to help- I have spoken to kobo, apple and the library and no one has been able to rectify this issue. I think kobo has a software issue but they don't seem to want to look into it.

I also have this issue trying to transfer a library book to my Nook. It will also quit unexpectedly if I try to open the book, and when I look at the book details, it says it has 0 pages.
