Book downloads from Kobo to Sony e reader

I have purchased a number of books from Kobo and managed to successfully download half of them. With the remainder I get the error message                     

_CE_COPY_NOT_ALLOWED- No permission to copy the book.

It is clearly an ADE problem so Kobo are not interested and Sony have given up any support since they sold out to Kobo. 

Any ideas?
