cannot download borrowed books

I bought a new KOBO, WHICH REQUIRES ADOBE DIGITAL EDITIONS TO DOWNLOAD BOOKS FROM THE LIBRARY. i CONTINUALLY GET ERROR MESSAGE ;license server communication problem E_IO_Cannot_Open. The library has tried, but states it is an adobe problem. I have asked, and asked, and tried to contact ANYONE  from adobe, but to no avail. Does no one at adobe care about customer service?
