Check Activation error on Authorized Computer, cannot download DRM books

Trying to download my purchased DRM ebooks from a website that is closing soon, but when I try, I get an error box "Error! Check Activation".  So I go to the Help menu > Authorization Information, and it says that this computer is already authorized, and shows my (correct) email address.  There is no place to change or check the authorization information.

Tried uninstalling, rebooting, then reinstalling, but no good. Still cannot download my DRM protected books.

I have almost 1000 books to download in 4 days, so need help quickly!

ADE version 3.0.xxx  running on Windows 7.

(I was able to download my books on my previous computer through a different program, I think Calibre, but got this new Win 7 computer, and no program will download the DRM books.)

Hey, I finally got it to work!

I copied a book file (that I had successfully downloaded to an old tablet using Aldiko) from my tablet to my computer, and tried to open it. ADE then stopped me and said I had to authorize the computer (which it had previously told me was already authorized).  This time it provided a window with the proper means by which to register my Adobe ID, and voila! I can now download books from the website!

Sure wish I knew why it kept saying my computer was authorized, when it apparently was not. I have spent probably 20 hours researching the problem  and trying various processes to fix the problem.
