digital editions won't open

Digital Editions 4.5 won't run on Windows 8

I've uninstalled and re-installed Digital Editions 4.5.1 - looks like it install correctly, but won't open.  Tried the same thing with Digital Editions 4.0 and Digital Editions 3.0.

4.5 worked fine until 1) digital editions wanted to upgrade to 4.5.1.  2) Windows 8 also did some recent updates.

The program does NOTHING!
