    If due to some reason, you are unable to deauthorize ADE, follow the below steps:

    Mac: Navigate to /Users//Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions and drag the activation.dat file to the trash.

    ADE will be deauthorized now.

    Now Authorize ADE again.

    success.  ADE 4.0 is to be avoided. It crashed after my solution.

    The solution is trash the activation.dat preference file.

    Navigate to /Users//Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions and drag the activation.dat file to the trash.

    If you are using 10.7, see Access hidden library files | Mac OS 10.7 and later.

    I reinstalled ADE 3.0 and life is good.

    The Error getting License. License Server Communication Problem: E_ACT_NOT_READY

    on yosemite was bogus.

    We've tried the suggestions we found here (E_ACT_NOT_READY.‌) but without success. We couldn't deauthorise ADE and couldn't find the file they describe.

    Ok, try the following way to access activation.dat:

    1. Go-> Go to folder.

    Go to folder dialog will appear.

    2. Type   ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions

    drag the activation.dat file to the trash.

    Hope this works !!
