How do I re-authorize my Kobo ereader?

I have been downloading library ebooks just fine for a while, but then it stopped letting me, saying I need to re-authorize my ereader.

I plugged my Kobo ereader into my computer but ADE shows it's already authorized so I can't do it again. I clicked on Authorize Device anyway, but it was grey so nothing changed. Now I can't open books on my reader but I can read on my computer, through ADE, and on my phone. I don't really like reading on either of those devices though. Any ideas of what I can do about this?

I found this article on OverDrive to be helpful - this fix was a bit time-intensive and took several tries but eventually worked. Hope it helps you too! https://help.overdrive.com/en-us/0926.html

I had the same problem and the ADE 4.5.11 installed.  I downloaded and installed the latest version 4.5.12 (Apple MacBook M1), no need to authorize the computer again and all imported books were still there. I imported the ebook again to my Kobo Clara and it worked immediately.

I got the same message on my way traveling by bus for a few hours, so no access to my computer at all. Frustrated by not being able to access ADE and reconnect, I powered down my Kobo and started it up again, and wow, problem solved!
So use the 1st question the IT department asks you when contacting them: did you try restarting?!

Hello Neko2007,

I tried shutting down my Kobo and also my MacBook, once, twice, maybe thrice but it didn't work at all. Then, and as mentioned above, installing the latest 4.15.12 ADE version did fix my problem. If suddenly something is not working and no reason for that,  then in my opinion updating to the latest version is rarely a bad idea.

I have new Mac updates now and it does not work with the Adobe 3.0.  Ask me how I know.!!!!  Stipped back the 4.15 and uninstalled too.

So now , I cannot open any of the books I have borrowed from the Library on Libby.  My ADE is shutting down unexpedetly and sending reports (scripts) back .....

I am soooooo frustrated.
