How do you download ebooks

I am sure this has been asked before.  I have download the digital editions but how can I download an eBook?  I am on google books and I see no where that says download anywhere.

    Normal you has a button Download. You save the File on your Hard disc and start Digital Edition. Go to  File > Add to Library and choose the file.

    ‌hmmm, can you explain step by step how yo diwnload?  What I'm saying is ... Do I open  DE and download from there? Is there suppose to be a download button on google ebooks? I see nothing that says download
