license server communication problem

After successfully using ADE to download purchased epubs for several years using the same computer, I now get the this message:

Unable to Download

Error getting License. License Server Communication Problem:

E_AUTH_BAD_DEVICE_KEY_OR_PKCS12

Does anyone know how to solve this?

I am getting the same error on an IPad Pro 2021. Is it outlandish for me to get your advice for this same problem on an IPad?

Should add that I am using Mac OS 10.14 (Mojave)

quit Adobe Digital Editions.

Navigate to /Users/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions and drag the activation.dat file to the trash.

Open Adobe Digital Editions and reauthorize.

I have been to /Users/Library/Application Support/ but find no

"Adobe/Digital Editions" folder

Any suggestions?
