not recognizing kobo glo

I see other questions like this one ... with no answer I have spent now 2 hours troubleshooting this on my own ... ready to give up !! I just need ADE to recognize the kobo glo so that I can transfer library books. I'm doing this for a cognitively challenged person and this is making me feel like the challenged one!
