So annoyed with adobe Digital Editions 4.0

Is anyone else experiencing lag/freezing issues when using adobe digital editions....I have bought some very expensive e-books thinking they would be much more convenient and easier than carrying the gigantic hardcover books, not to mention a bit cheaper,  which only seems to work through Adobe Digital editions, and after about 10 min of using adobe digital editions i have to either shut down adobe digital editions because it freezes or takes forever to scroll through the pages. This is ridiculous, the UI is absolutely terrible and is extremely limited compared to other e-books software available. I would like to move completely away from using adobe digital editions but unfortunately the ebook files won't allow me to open the books through google play books or ibooks.....come on Adobe.

I used a technique from a forum that made no sense to me but everything else failed. I created a folder labelled Old ADE file where I moved my ADE 4 file then I downloaded ADE 3.0 and placed in a newly created NEW ADE file and it worked right away. I don't get it but it worked. This was after I had changed my Firefox browser which no longer supported the ADE extension. But that wasn't the whole problem. I HAD BEEN SO FRUSTRATED and ADE shoulod have the answer to this.

Unable to download library books to ADE. Complete waste of time,  its the only app the library directs its readers to. ADE, useless, frustrating waste of time

I'm only on this for ebooks because of Covid 19 . I have deleted Adobe and redid it at least 6 times. I have authoruzed and reauthorized my pc everytime and same with Kobo reader and it keeps freezong. Can't use it, can't close it. Libraries better open soon or I'm going to have to spend a lot of money in Kobo store. This has been my most frustrating computer experience ever. It should give anyone pause before buying an ereader to borrow books from the library. It would have been better if I'd spent my money buyng from local bookstores during the lockdown. I have seen similar concerns that go back years and I wonder why Adobe can't fix this. I give up.

Yep, ADE 4.5 on MacBook Pro Catalina is incredibley frustrating. Attempting to read several very expensive white papers but this app is nonviable. Can't even scroll! Shame on you Adobe. Terrible experience.

The SW is a complete piece of crap. It doesn´t exactly freeze on my computer instead it just doesnt work at all - I can move within the document, the page number is changing but only the first page is always shown. :-)

Classic ADOBE quality assurance - well done ;-).

    Yes, same here.

Downloaded the new v.4 hoping to finally be able to see video and audio files in ePubs but it freezes constantly and any images are all over the place, where they should not be.

Don't know what is wrong with this version but v.3 was more stable than this, just without the video and audio support and animations etc.
