Syncing Kobo Touch to ADE 4.5

I am able to download library books to my desktop, but not able to copy to my Kobo which is not recognized by ADE - it isn't even recognized using the HELP tab.  ADE is linked to an old/inactive email and the old password to this account does not work.  I would like to link ADE to my new email and my Kobo, but when I reinstall ADE, it defaults to the old set up.  I can download books to my Kobo from the Kobo Shop, so I know that the front and back ends are working - now I just need to connect the two systems.
