Transferring ebook from desktop app to mobile app

Following a brief chat with customer service on twitter they suggested I post a comment on here to get some support with transferring an ebook from my desktop app to my mobile app of Digital Editions. Despite following the step by step guidance my device does not show on the left so it is not possible to drag the book over - please help!
