Unable to deauthorize ADE 4.0.3.117585

New Here ,
Jul 21, 2015 Jul 21, 2015

Hi

I want to deauthorize ADE 4.0.3.117585 because I cannot load any downloaded eBooks from my public library any more.

BTW: I did install a new system harddisk some days ago and had to apply a 4 week old backup.

Ctl-Shft-I pretends that the computer is authorized, although I cannot read any downloaded ebook.

When I use the dialog initiated by Ctl-Shft-D and enter my password I get a message:

“Could not delete athorization. Please try again later.”

The password I use enables me to logon to the Adobe ID site. So I guess it is right.

HELP needed!

I have the exact same problem.

Just thought I'd bump this problem.  Anyone with any ideas?

My password allows me to log on to the site but not to deauthorize.

I'm trying to reauthorize ADE 4.5.126234. Same problem as above I get error message "Unable to Erase Authorization. Please try after some time." I changed by Adobe ID password, but even the old one won't work.

In essence what I did was the same. Erased the activation.dat file, but it wouldn't deactivate within ADE itself. Thanks

Found another post about this that helped. You need to go into the Library file and delete the activation.dat file.

This is what it said to do:

If due to some reason, you are unable to deauthorize ADE, follow the below steps:

Mac:

1. Go-> Go to folder or (Press keyboard shortcut: cmd+shift+g on desktop)

Go to folder dialog will appear.

2. Type   ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions

drag the activation.dat file to the trash.

ADE will be deauthorized now.

Now Authorize ADE again [Help -> Authorize Computer].

Windows:

Choose Start > Run.

In the Open text box, type regedit and then press Enter. The Registry Editor opens.

In the left pane of the Registry Editor, locate the following registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adept

Right-click the Adept key and choose Delete.

In the Confirm Key Delete dialog, click OK.

Your authorization will be deleted.

ADE will be deauthorized now.

Now Authorize ADE again.

Hope this works !!
