I use Adobe Digital Editions without problems for years, but suddenly it stopped working properly. I keeps trying to load the library, but nothing happens! What can I do? Do I have to reinstall or is there another better solution without losing my books.

Plenty of the threads on the forum about this problem with various solutions. I had this problem last year and when I logged on here for help I was instructed to change my password, which worked. Today I was having the same problem again and found that if I went into my documents, opened the My Digital Editions folder, and then launched the ADE app it worked. May just have been luck of course. Often the library does take a few minutes ot load but that might be because I have hundreds of books on it!
Thank you for responding! I found a few threads after I posted this question, i am trying some. You mentioned changing your password, but I use it for 10 years and I never have to mention my password, where can I change it? I changed it to be in contact with the helpdesk, but where can I change it in the program, when I touch the icon it starts loading?
I have an additional question. When I reinstall ADE will the program use the same path where My books are saved, or can you tell the program to do so? I would rather not lose my books!
You can change your password here on the log in page - it gives you the chance to change it or reset it. I have no idea if that is what actually made things work again or it was just luck. Yes, if you reinstall it your books will still be there - just like if you install it on a new computer, they are still on your account I honestly can't remember if I had to go into authorisations and change the password in the ADE app, I just know that there wasn't a problem with my account after I changed it. For the record mine is opening fine this morning!

I have a similar issue. If I try to open an epub-file by doubleclicking on it ADE opens but freezes, nothing happens. Worked like a charm a few days ago so must be some update they have made. 😞 Some of my books inside the library works, but not all...
This morning I tried one of the tips from another thread and ADE opens up again, but I have to add all my books to the library again and it went wrong a few times. I tried it first with a few books and tried to connect to my ereader and added the books to my ereader, it worked. So I am glad.
The Solution: Go to the folder Documents : search my digital editions and rename this folder. Next step, try to open ADE again. Hope it works for you too. Good Luck!
